Keno was first played in two hundred BC by the Chinese army leader, Cheung Leung who utilized keno as a monetary resource for his failing forces. The city of Cheung was waging a war, and after a bit of war time seemed to be looking at a national shortage of food with the excessive decrease in supplies. Cheung Leung had to come up with a fast response for the financial adversity and to produce money for his military. He, as it follows developed the game we now know as keno and it was a wonderful success.

Keno used to be well-known as the White Pigeon Game, because the winning numbers were sent out by pigeons from bigger locations to the lesser villages. The lottery ‘Keno’ was imported to America in the 19th century by Chinese immigrants who headed to the US to work. In those times, Keno was played with one hundred and twenty numbers.

Today, Keno is regularly enjoyed with eighty numbers in just about all of the US land based casinos as well as net casinos. Keno is mainly enjoyed today as a consequence of the laid back nature of gambling the game and the basic reality that there are little skills required to play Keno. Despite the fact that the odds of coming away with a win are terrible, there is always the chance that you will win quite large with little gambling investment.

Keno is played with 80 numbers with twenty numbers selected each game. Players of Keno can pick from 2 to 10 numbers and gamble on them, whatever amount they are able to. The pay out of Keno is according to the wagers made and the roll out of matching numbers.

Keno has grown in acceptance in the United States since the end of the 1800’s when the Chinese characters were replaced with , US numbers. Lottos were not covered under the legalization of wagering in the state of Nevada in 1931. The casinos renamed the ‘Chinese lotto’ to ‘horse race keno’ utilizing the idea that the numbers are horses and you want your horses to place. When the Nevada government passed a law that levied a tax on off track wagering, casinos quickly adjusted the name to ‘Keno’.
