It will not commonly be looked at as the best game in the arena of betting, but keno has millions and millions of passionate supporters. And why not? It’s a regularly thrilling lotto-ish game that’s easy to play, abundantly available in tons of assorted variations, and one that can yield millions for gamblers who learn its innumerable subtle intricacies. But let’s deal with the basic facts for now.

When explaining keno to novices, some gaming connoisseurs compare it to bingo. This is at least partly correct, in that each game is basically numerical. Yet to carry that comparison too far will be to underestimate the many unique aspect that make keno so entertaining. Not like bingo, keno enthusiasts have the freedom to choose the numbers for each card.

Keno cards have a total of eighty numbers, but the player is furnished with an extra degree of personal responsibility by being able to decide on as numerous (or as few) numbers as he needs. And it doesn’t take a nuclear physicist to ascertain how to fill out a card: all you do is circle or otherwise mark all your handpicked numbers with a good oldball point pen like you had when you were in grade 3.

Once you’ve selected your numbers, take your card back to the nice person at the keno stand. The keno pit manager will record your numbers and then give you a receipt. Do not lose this (potentially) expensive bit of paper! Even if the keno pit manager remembers your mug and wants help out, without a winning slip in hand, you will collect exactly $.00 for your efforts.

Ok, there you have strategy number one: always be sure to keep your keno ticket. Let’s advance to something a little bit more complex, what do you think?

Now that you’ve picked out your numbers, settle into a nice keno booth and observe the action unfold on the video monitor. That’s where the winning numbers show up for all to see. If you’ve got winners, mark your card accordingly. Make sure not to take your time, or sit there praising yourself for an obnoxious length of time. You really want to get up to the keno booth to get your winnings, since a new round of keno will almost certainly get going within five minutes.

Strategy #2: always be sure to get back to the keno stand on time!

Assuming you can’t trust yourself to beat that five-minute deadline every time, you always retain the option of buying a "multi-race" card. These include the same set of your desired numbers on anywhere from two to 20 cards. When the max number of keno games (matching the amount of tickets) is played out, you will then be able to get off your lazy rump and go collect your winnings.

Still another option is recognized as a "stray and play" keno ticket, which usually lets you make number selection for thirty keno rounds or more. Heck, you can take vacation to Italy and not have to worry about getting back in time to collect your winnings. Most "stray and play" cards are good for up to a whole year after it’s purchased!

So now you have learned a couple of required strategies for winning keno. If you are an experienced keno player, they might seem to be stupidly obvious. Still, it will never hurt to bone up on the basic tactics, and if you are a beginner player, every bit of information will help make your keno betting more agreeable.
