It might not commonly be deemed the sexiest game in the arena of gaming, but keno has tons of zealous enthusiasts. And so it should! It’s a constantly entertaining lottery-style game that’s uncomplicated to learn, readily available in loads of different variations, and one that might pay out mega-dollars for people who learn its many subtle rules. But let’s deal with the beginner’s rules for now.

When explaining keno to newcomers, some wagering connoisseurs compare it to lotto. This is at least tolerably correct, in that both games are generally numerical. But to carry that comparison too far might be to detract from the great many unique traits that make keno so exciting. Not like bingo, keno gamblers have the power to select the numbers for each and every card.

Keno cards have a total of 80 numbers, but the gambler is given an extra level of personal responsibility by being able to pick as many (or as few) numbers as she thinks is appropriate. And it doesn’t take a nuclear physicist to figure out how to fill out a card: all you do is circle or otherwise mark each of your handpicked numbers with a every day oldpen like you used back in school.

Now that you have selected your numbers, carry the game card back to the keno pit manager at the keno booth. The nice person will record your numbers and then give you a receipt. Don’t drop this (potentially) expensive piece of paper! Even if the keno pit manager remembers your loud shirt and would like to help out, without a winning receipt on you, you will win precisely $.00 for your actions.

So, there you have strategy #1: always take care to keep your keno receipt. Let’s move on to something a little bit more complex, ok?

Now that you’ve selected your numbers, settle into a nice keno booth and observe the action happen on the screen. This is where the winning numbers are displayed for us. If you selected winners, mark your card aptly. Make sure not to dally, or sit there congratulating yourself for too great a length of time. You really want to get back to the keno booth to get your winnings, as a new keno game will most likely start within not too many minutes.

Strategy #2: always make it back to the keno booth on time!

Assuming you don’t trust yourself to make that five-minute margin each time, you always retain the option of purchasing a "multi-race" card. These include the very same set of your picked numbers on anywhere from two to twenty tickets. When the maximum number of keno games (fitting the number of tickets) is finished, you are then able to get off your lazy back side and go retrieve your winnings.

Yet an additional opportunity is recognized as a "stray and play" keno card, which commonly allows you make number choices for 30 keno games or more. Hell, you can take vacation to Greece and not have to get uptight about getting back in time to collect your winnings. Most "stray and play" game tickets are good for up to a whole year after you purchase it!

And now you have learned a couple of required methods for winning keno. If you are an advanced player, they may seem incredibly obvious. But it will never hurt to study up on the basics, and if you are a newbie keno player, every bit of direction will help make your keno wagering more agreeable.
