It won’t commonly be deemed the sexiest game in the field of gambling, but keno has loads of keen admirers. As well it should! It’s a routinely entertaining lottery-esque game that’s easy to master, readily available in a number of alternate formats, and one that will pay out millions of dollars for gamblers who learn its numerous subtle rules. But let’s deal with the beginner’s rules for now.

When defining keno to newbies, some betting connoisseurs compare it to the lottery. This is at least partly correct, in that each game is essentially numerical. But to take that comparison too far can be to detract from the great many unique traits that make keno so exciting. Unlike bingo, keno players have the freedom to choose the numbers for each card.

Keno cards have a grand total of eighty numbers, but the user is furnished with an extra level of personal responsibility by being able to decide on as many (or as few) numbers as he or she needs. And it doesn’t take a super genius to come up with how to fill out a card: all you do is circle or otherwise mark all your chosen numbers with a standardball point pen like you used when you were a kid.

Now that you’ve checked your numbers, take the game card back to the clerk at the keno stand. The clerk will record your numbers and then give you a receipt. Make sure no to lose this (potentially) lucrative piece of paper! Even if the clerk remembers your mug and wants help out, without a winning slip with you, you will collect exactly $.00 for your time spent.

Ok, there you have strategy #1: always take care to keep your keno ticket. Let’s advance to something a little more advanced, yes?

After you’ve selected your numbers, get into a comfy keno booth and observe the action happen on the video monitor. That is where the winning numbers are displayed for all to see. If you marked winning numbers, mark your card appropriately. Make sure not to take too much time, or sit there congratulating yourself for an obnoxious length of time. You must get back to the keno stand to redeem your winnings, and a new round of keno will likely start within a few minutes.

Strategy #2: always make sure to get back to the keno stand on time!

Since you don’t trust yourself to beat that 5 minute deadline every time, you always retain the option of purchasing a "multi-race" card. These include the very same set of your picked numbers on anywhere from two to 20 cards. When the max number of keno games (the same as the number of tickets) is completed, you should then get off your numb butt and go collect your winnings.

Still another alternative is known as a "stray and play" keno slip, which usually lets you make number choices for thirty keno rounds or more. Hell, you can take vacation to France and not have to fret about getting back in time to retrieve your numbers. Most "stray and play" slips are good for up to a whole year after you purchase it!

So now you are aware of several indispensable schemes for winning keno. If you are an accomplished keno player, they may appear to be quite obvious. However, it will not hurt to brush up on the fundamentals, and if you are a newbie keno player, every bit of advice will help make your keno gambling more captivating.
